The new line-up of iPhones could include four new smartphones, a 5G upgrade, and an infusion of iPad Pro styling and tech. Apple has supposedly reduced the size of the notch on the screen panel, flattened out the glass on the 2020 iPhone Pro, and increased the screen size of the iPhone 11 Pro Max’s successor. The 2020 iPhone Pro is expected to have three cameras and a LIDAR Scanner, and the iPhone 11’s successor will have two cameras. A new HomePod will be launched that will be roughly half the size of the original and will feature a smarter Siri. Apple AirTags are also expected to launch this year. There could be a delay in the release of some models due to the pandemic.
Amazon is attempting to catch up with demand by hiring 75,000 new part and full-time employees and by limiting new signups to its services. Third-party sellers will be able to resume shipping non-essential items through Amazon’s fulfillment service later this week. Amazon has increased Whole Foods’ online order capacity by more than 60 percent since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, but it still expects that customers will have difficulty finding open delivery slots. Customers are encouraged to shop in-person if they are able to. Employees are not immune to the virus, and tensions within the company are high.
In the Indian state of Kerala, more than 30,000 health workers are part of the Communist state government’s robust response to the coronavirus epidemic. The effort involves aggressive testing, intense contact tracing, long quarantines, building shelters for migrant workers, and distributing cooked meals to those in need. Kerala’s efforts appear to be working and could prove instructive for the Indians government, who has largely shut down the country to stop the spread of the coronavirus. India continues to see an uptrend in cases.
Full Self-Driving on Tesla vehicles works for highway driving, but when it comes to inner-city streets, it still has some ways to go. The most recent update shows that more and more aspects of city driving are becoming recognized by the company’s neural networks. A small clip is available showing a Model 3 rendering details, such as directional lights, on a stop light signal. Elon Musk recently said in a tweet that the release of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving functionalities is still looking good for this year.
The goal of an engineering interview is to ask questions that surface understanding of engineering culture and attitude. It is difficult to assess technical ability through programming quizzes or by reviewing code, so an interview should judge the engineer’s mastery of software process and communication. Asking questions related to a candidate’s problem-solving strategies, how a candidate sees their work, and how they would build their ideal team reveals important information about a candidate. Additional interview questions, as well as discussions on why they are effective, are in the article.
GrubHub, DoorDash, Postmates, and UberEats were sued for allegedly exploiting their dominance in restaurant meal deliveries to impose fees that ultimately increased menu prices. US Antitrust law requires restaurants to charge delivery customers and dine-in customers at the same price. Many restaurants have opted to charge everyone higher prices as a result of the fees imposed on them when using delivery services.
Wu Feng spent nearly two months in Wuhan treating some of China’s most severe COVID-19 cases. The hospitals were a disaster zone, with makeshift areas created to support the huge influx of patients.
